Local: The Government of Gombe decides to loosen restrictions on religious gatherings/events


The Gombe State Government, on Thursday loosens restrictions placed on religious activities

Remember that a restriction was imposed on Wednesday, 22 April to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the State.

Nevertheless, after a meeting with religious leaders on Thursday, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya announced that all congregational gatherings for social, cultural and religious reasons, regardless of the number of individuals taking part in these events, should be suspended equally.

Inuwa said that places of worship would stick to the policy of social distancing.

He cautioned that failure to comply with social distancing order, the use of face masks, regular hand-washing with soap and water would lead to the re-imposition of the ban.

According to him, the ban has yielded benefits by helping to curb population dissemination of the virus.

He concluded that the religious leaders had given assurances that they would comply with the COVID-19 protocols of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) while opening mosques and churches across the state.
