Local: Wike orders building of school on demolished hotel ground

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the development of a high school on Prodest House, Alode, Eleme Property, one of the two hotels he ordered to be demolished earlier this week, while the demolished Etemeteh Hotel, Onne is still dedicated to public usage.

This was announced by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulins Nsirim, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Paulins Nsirim also stated that one of the members of the Covid-19 State Task Force reportedly attacked the wanted former People's Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader in the Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) during a crisis that resulted in the demolition of Prodest Hotel, Alode, Eleme.

Smart Updates reported that the governor of the Rivers State ordered the demolition of the Prodest House, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne due to a violation of the COVID-19 State Preventive Directives.

Meanwhile, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Chief Onueze Okocha (SAN) has confirmed that the Executive Orders signed by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike are correct. Okocha (SAN) told someone who is dissatisfied with the Executive Orders that they should be put to the courts.

Chief Okocha (SAN) lauded the behavior of the Rivers State Governor in the battle against coronavirus as well thought out and well informed. He said the measures would help to control the spread of coronavirus.

He said: "I fully believe that the steps are being taken by the Government of the Rivers State, in particular by the Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, are well thought out, well informed, and I believe that they would enable us to a large extent to prevent or at least mitigate to the barest level the spread of this coronavirus, which they now claim triggers the disease they label COVID-19."

I commend the government; I commend the governor for his bold and very laudable action

The Executive Orders placed in effect by the Governor of the State are necessary. All agrees that they are determined to insure our health and to limit the spread of this coronavirus to the barest minimum. And I don't believe someone has quarrelled with either of these directives.
