Politics: Buhari sacks NEMA DG, names substitute



Maihaja who became NEMA DG in March 2017, after Buhari terminated the appointment of Alhaji Muhammed Sani-Sidi as the agency’s chief has been sacked.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Director-General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja.

Consequently, the President named Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed (retd) as his substitute for Air Vice Marshal. The creation is contained in a statement from the federation's Secretary of Government (SGF), Boss Mustapha's office.

According to the release, Muhammed's appointment as the NEMA chief was enforced on Thursday, April 30th in compliance with Section 3 of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Act, for an initial duration of four years.
The statement said that Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed was immediately directed to hand over all official matters to the former director general, Mustapha Y. Maihaja. The President thanked the outgoing Director-General for his services and charged dedication and determination to represent the new appointee.
