Sports gist: Manchester United is not pleased with De Gea performance

This claim was made by a well-respected football expert and journalist, Duncan Castles.

According to Castles, Man United feels that they have made a big error by agreeing a lucrative long-term deal with De Gea last year and will be able to unload the 29-year-old Spain International, should an bid come along for him.

"Manchester United is not pleased with De Gea's performance since signing the record deal," Castles said to Transfer Window Podcast.

"They put themselves in a situation where they needed to pay him more money that any other club should have been able to give him. And they've saddled themselves.

"This is a very lucrative deal for a player whose success has deteriorated since the contract was signed.
"My assumption is that there is a feeling inside the group that anyone would give De Gea a deal, and the opportunity to go somewhere will be to take the pay off their salary bill and sell it."

"It's going to be very difficult to locate a De Gea buyer because of the coronavirus situation."
