Sports: Zokora clarifies why Drogba Lost Ivory Coast FA Presidential offer
Former Cote d'Ivoire international Didier Zokora has
clarified why the presidential election of West African country's Football
Association former teammate Didier Drogba failed to receive a single vote.
In recent FA presidential elections, Chelsea legend Drogba
polled no vote as his rival Sory Diabate polled 11 of the 14 votes cast with
three abstainers.
Zokora, who came in for Tottenham
Hotspur who was one of the electors, said Drogba failed to win the elections
because he ignored his duties as the FA's honorary president and also failed to
announce his intention to take part in the contest.
Zokora is quoted as thus; “What we are saying is that
Didier Drogba, as honorary president of the Association has never been present
at a single meeting. He did not even inform us of his candidacy for the
presidency FA. It’s a huge disrespect".
