Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike issues new directive on schools, churches, warns banks, and others

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike issued on Monday new directives on reopening state schools , churches, and motor parks as coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the country.

The governor also threatened in a series of tweets on his official Twitter account that his government does not hesitate to prosecute owners of banks, shopping malls , restaurants, shops and businesses who refuse to enforce the wearing of face masks and social distancing at their premises.

According to him, it would decontaminate both public and private schools, including worship places and motor-parks.

He tweeted: "There will be decontamination of both public and private schools before the schools open. It will also decontaminate churches and motor-parks.

"This problem of COVID-19 is real and the government does not hesitate to seal up and prosecute owners of banks, shopping malls , restaurants, stores, places of business or offices who refuse to enforce social distancing and the wearing of face masks in their premises.

"The Decontamination Team will not sacrifice standards but puts the best efforts to decontaminate the whole territory," he said.
