The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, warned the Southeast against the Igbo Presidency campaign.

Nwajiuba said there was no time in Nigeria 's history for the presidency to be ceded to a particular tribe-based ethnic group, so the Southeast should be careful over the term of Igbo 's presidency.

Nwajiuba said, "Anyone talking about Igbo 's presidency should be careful because we've never heard of Hausa 's presidency. When the Yoruba were competing, we didn't hear about the Yoruba presidency, why are we different from our own?

“There is no time people involved in politics will cede a position to anybody.

“Anyday you bring out an aspirant that is acceptable to other Nigerians, that is the day you indeed want the position of president in Nigeria. All you need is majority. Buhari won the APC primaries with 3,886 votes.

“So there was never a time it was ceded to Buhari. The people that voted for Buhari outnumbered others in that primaries.

"Even if the Igbo cry from now until your kingdom comes, if they don't bring out a person acceptable to other Nigerians, nothing happens."

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo was at the forefront of ensuring the emergence of the Igbo presidency in 2023. The Deputy Speaker of Ohanaeze Ndigbo recently insisted that it was the turn of the Southeast to produce Nigeria's next president.
