Earthquake M6.4 hits Croatia
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude-6.4 earthquake struck near Petrinja, Croatia on Tuesday at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Magnitude 6.4 earthquake can cause slight damage to buildings and other structures. May cause a lot of damage in very populated areas. But there are currently no reports of casualties and damage.

A major earthquake registers between 7 and 7.9 on the Richter scale. There are about 20 a year worldwide and they cause very serious damage. Indonesia was hit by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake which triggered a tsunami in November of 2010. More than 500 people died and many buildings were destroyed.
