SPORTS: Mancini reacts after Italy's 3-0 triumph over Turkey in the opening round of Euro 2020
Roberto Mancini, Italy's manager, called his team's 3-0 victory over Turkey "an important triumph."
On Friday night, the Azzurri won by a large margin to kick off Euro 2020. Lorenzo Insigne, right, scored Italy's third goal in a 3-0 win over Turkey that opened play in the Euro 2020 soccer tournament Friday. Italy waited a long time for this European Championship to start and then showed Friday just how eager the team was to play the tournament opener.
Mancini's side took the lead thanks to an own goal from Merih Demiral, before Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne added late goals.
Mancini, on the other hand, cautioned that there is still a long way to go before a possible Wembley final.
“It was critical to get off to a good start in Rome, and I believe the people and Italians are pleased.
“It was a pleasant evening, and I hope there will be many more, but there are still six games left at Wembley.
“We played a good match, even in the first half without being able to score. A great team. There was a lot of help from the crowd,” Mancini said after the match played at a Stadio Olimpico.
