COVID-19: The federal capital territory administration (fcta) seal bars, arrest 8 violators impersonating army officers

Federal Capital Territory Administration

Eight people were arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Ministerial Task Team on the enforcement of COVID-19 restrictions for violation of the curfew imposed on the territory for impersonating Army officers.

During Thursday's briefing in Abuja, Mr. Ikharo Attah, Chairman of the Task Force, said that the rapists who were arrested in Kubwa and Dutse Alhaji Districts of the FCT would be brought before the Mobile Courts.

He reported that some of those arrested had been caught drinking in bars and gardens. He said that the team arrested a bar operator at the Second Gate, Dutse-Alhaji, who claimed to be a soldier, but on questioning admitted that he was lying to escape arrest.

Also, at Dutse Makaranta, the beer parlour, which was fully operational a few minutes after 10 pm, was closed down.

He said that the manager of the place also claimed that the place was owned by a serving Major in the Nigerian Army, adding that they had decided to operate in the early hours due to the occupation of the owner.

The chairman, however, added that the level of compliance with the night curfew in Kubwa and Dutse areas were very high.

He said, unlike Lugbe, where we went a few days ago, most of the well-known nightclubs and bars in Kubwa and Dutse-Alhaji were closed down.

Vehicle movements were very small and made up mostly of those on the exemption list. The level at which some residents of Dutse Alhaji and Makaranta parade as military personnel even though they are not allowed to stop.

The Chef claimed to be a soldier while the manager of the beer parlour said the place belongs to an Army Major. This has to stop immediately. Citizens will not drag the name and reputation of the army into the water.
