Sports gist: Jose Mourinho denies delaying Premier League’s restart over concerns for players’ fitness

In April, Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho was forced to apologize after being spotted breaking lockdown restrictions to hold a training session with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in a public park.

However, Mourinho said he would relish the chance to get back to work despite the challenges and risks posed by the pandemic.

He added that his position in the meeting has been reflected fairly at all today in media reports and have not asked for any delay.

I love to coach, and I'm anxious for the Premier League to come back as soon as it's safe to do so, particularly as we're seeing other leagues getting ready to go back to practice.

He concluded by saying that he is extremely proud of the way his players have maintained their fitness and that they have shown great professionalism, passion and dedication.
