Basic facts you need to know about job interview - Take good advantage of every opportunity you have with your interviewer (Technical Skills)
2 minute read
What you need
to pass an interview is more than what you were taught in classrooms. So learn
the nitty-gritty. They may not ask you to define, discus or explain concepts
like you were told to do in class.
Good CV is
more than just good results. Acquire the necessary skills needed for relevance.
Good CV is not
enough to secure a job. Learn to impress your interviewer. That you have a nice
and appealing CV is not 100% guarantee for securing a job. Your articulation of
expressions matters.
Going late for
an interview is a sure Sign of indiscipline and lack of diligence. It may take
only favour to get that kind of job
Learn to give
straight, forward and short answers to questions. Don't go there to show your
grandiloquence or verbosity.
Dressing like
the position you applied for is an advantage in securing a job. Don't dress
like a security man while you applied for the position of manager and don't
appear like a driver while you apply for the position of secretary.
Don't forget
that good dress is not enough for an interview. Be confident enough to face
your interviewer and give him the right impression.
No company
wants a liability; learn how you can be an asset to the company even before you
apply for the job. Identify the needs in the company and possible solutions
that you can render.
The first
impression you give to your interviewer in the first three to five minutes of
your appearance matters. Mind your choice of words, mind your sitting posture.
Don't go into the interview room and the first thing in your mind is to sit
down or shake hands with the interviewer when you are not told to do so.
Asking your
interviewer for pen to write (if need be) is a sign that you aren't serious.
Get a good pen in your jacket, (Possibly fancy pen) position it well. Look like
somebody of substance and not like beggars on the street.
There are few
job opportunities out there. Take good advantage of every opportunity you have
with your interviewer.
