NEWS UPDATES: Muhammad Sanusi revealed that the worst form of corruption in Nigeria is Nepotism

Muhammad Sanusi, a former emir from Kano, mentioned a number of factors that fuel Nigeria's corruption. He said Nigeria would continue to witness corruption if incompetent people were allowed to occupy positions of leadership.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, who spoke during a webinar called 'Sustainability of Society,' also said that corruption would continue in Nigeria if there were nepotism in the system.


Sanusi said these factors would further impede and affect Nigeria 's development.

He said, "Corruption is a problem in terms of morality and religion.

"There's incompetence part of the problem we have, so I always say that we need to pay attention to merit. A merit test, a competence test must be conducted.

"For me, I believe that the root of corruption is when the value, competence and performance are de-emphasized.
