The federal government has made a new update, as some states are aiming to disobey its order not to reopen schools.

Following the decision of six states to reopen school in order to encourage students to write the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Exams, the federal government has maintained that the government's stance remains unchanged.

Get View Updates revealed that the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, said the Ministry was still advising education stakeholders on what the best role would be.

He added that the West African Examination Council (WAEC) had also started consulting with West African nations on a possibility of shifting dates. Nwajiuba said the ministry would send an update if there's any improvement in its earlier role.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had previously said that the government would not risk the lives of students because of the final exams.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, July 15, Nwajiuba said that Adamu's comment represents the stance of the Ministry. The Minister of State clarified that there is no trust that Nigeria is secure yet because the figures from the NCDC are still worrying.

He said the Ministry had raised concerns before parents and all other related stakeholders, adding that consultations are still underway and also the ministry will communicate its position after the consultations with stakeholders are over.
