Ondo Political Gist: I blocked his ambition to become a godfather in the state Obaseki reveals reason why Oshiomhole is angry with him

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has said Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress ( APC), is angry with him because he blocked his ambition to become a godfather in the state.

Obaseki made that claim in a statement signed on Monday by Crusoe Osagie, his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy.

Oshiomhole claimed last week that Obaseki, whom he nominated to succeed him in 2016, has turned into a snake.

Oshiomhole claimed that the governor began fighting against members of the party by destroying and arresting their properties.

Obaseki decamped from the APC after being disqualified from participating in primary elections for the party.

He said he was frustrated by Oshiomhole's failure to govern Edo State for a third term using Obaseki as a proxy.

"In 2016, when Obaseki was nominated and supported by Oshiomhole, his hidden motive was to use Governor Obaseki as a pawn in his game to defraud Edo 's people and throne himself as the ultimate godfather of Edo politics at the expense of Edo's will and wishes.

"However, Obaseki 's refusal to mortgage the interest of the majority of the Edo people to Oshiomhole 's satisfaction and his handful of greedy followers is the cause of Oshiomhole's bitterness that led him to bury himself in pursuit of an innocent governor who is trying to do the right thing for his people," read the statement.
