Just in: Tijani Okutachi dies in Kogi

In Abocho, under the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Tijani Okutachi, a first class paramount ruler died.

His death comes a few months after the death of Dr. Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, Attah of Igala, both of whom came from the eastern part of the state.

On Saturday, November 28, 2020, Late Alhaji Okutachi died following an illness at the age of 61.

Confirming his death in a statement on Sunday, Governor Yahaya Bello in a condolence message through his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed expressed shock over the passage of the monarch.

The Governor described the Royal Father as a great promoter of peace and unity amongst his subjects.

According to him, the passage of the paramount ruler after that of the Attah Igala, Dr Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, is one tragedy too many for the Igala kingdom in particular, and Kogi State as a whole.

The 20-year reign of the supreme ruler on the throne, he said, undeniably attracted his people to major changes and advancement.

Bello said that for his royal advice, fatherly guidance and numerous contributions to the general good of the State, the supreme ruler would be greatly missed.
