News Update: China, Vietnam emphasize the promotion of ties for further practical cooperation
On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), held telephone conversations with Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong, also General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPVCC).
Xi again congratulated Trong for being elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPV and said that Vietnam will achieve its national development goals under the leadership of Trong and the CPVCC.
Noting that the relations between China and Vietnam are at a new historical starting point, Xi called for more practical cooperation efforts in various aspects to further promote the healthy and stable development of links.
In order to promote synergies between the Belt and Road and the 'Two Corridors, One Economic Circle,' the two countries should step up and promote the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to take effect at an early stage.
Xi also emphasized the strategic importance of bilateral ties, stating that, as a shared-future community, sustainable, healthy and stable relationship development will bring greater benefits to the people of both countries and make positive contributions to the promotion of regional and global peace, development and prosperity.
Trong expressed his gratitude for Xi's good wishes and said that the 13th CPV National Congress set the tasks of economic and social development for the next five years and the vision of development for 2030 and 2045.

In supporting a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Vietnam is willing to work with China, he added.
On its centennial, Vietnam congratulated the CPC, he said, wishing China greater achievements in a new journey towards the complete construction of a modern socialist country.
The two leaders also sent greetings to each other for the New Year and wished happiness and health to the two nations.
