Trump sued by Chinese American civil rights group over China virus
A civil rights group has sued former US President Donald Trump for referring to COVID-19 as the "China virus."
The Chinese Americans Civil Rights Coalition (CACRC) filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York, alleging that Trump's use of derogatory terms contributed to the recent rise in violence against Chinese and other Asian Americans.
The CACRC is asking Trump to pay a symbolic $1 to every Asian American and Pacific Islander living in the United States as an apology, which would total $22.9 million.

The plaintiffs said they planned to use the money to open a museum dedicated to the history of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the United States and their contributions to the country.
