Light plane crash near Paris claims the lives of four people

According to the AFP news agency, which cited the local fire department, a light plane crashed on Sunday afternoon in Seine-et-Marne, east of Paris, killing four people.

The aircraft, a Robin DR400 monoplane that took off from Beauvais, was discovered in a field near a departmental road around 2:00 p.m.

To determine the circumstances of the crash, a judicial inquiry has been initiated.

The incident occurred around 20 kilometres from France's largest airport, Paris Charles de Gaulle.

The light aircraft was "of French origin, limited by law to visual flights at altitudes of no more than 15,000 feet," an airfield source told AFP.
