If Ibrahim is found guilty of stealing N10 million, he could face prison term.
Officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned a man accused of stealing N10 million in court yesterday, July 19, 2021. On a single count of criminal breach of trust, Ibrahim Yuguda was charged before Justice Maryam Sabo of the Kano State High Court.
You Ibrahim Yuguda, between April 2018 and February 2019 at Kano within the jurisdiction of the Kano State High Court, being entrusted with certain property, namely the sum of N10, 800,000 (Ten Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only property of Mohammed Ibrahim, dishonestly misappropriated the money and thereby committed an offense contrary to section 311 of the Penal Code,” the charge read.
Musa Isah, the prosecution's lawyer, requested a trial date based on his client's plea. The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the accusation, and the defendant's attorney, Aminu Umar Yakasai, filed for bail on his behalf.
Justice Sabo set bail for the defendant at N2, 000,000 (Two Million Naira) with two sureties in the same amount.
The case has been rescheduled for trial on August 16, 2021.
