The officer died after being stabbed. The Associated Press quoted Pentagon sources as saying that the suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement at the scene. Woodrow Kusse, director of the Pentagon’s

The Arlington County Fire Department reported "multiple patients", but it is not clear whether they were related to the shooting.
The Pentagon went into a lockdown after the shooting and reopened after an hour and a half.
"The Pentagon has lifted the lockdown and has reopened," the Pentagon Force Protection Agency said on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. "We request that everyone stay away from the Metro rail entrance and bus platform area."
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said that due to investigations, trains and buses are avoiding their stops at the transportation hub. Metro
bus station is the main entrance to the Pentagon and many bus lines in the area are used every day.
