COVID-19: President Buhari and Osibanjo receives COVID-19 vaccine


The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and his VP Osibanjo, has been vaccinated against the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19).


On Saturday, the both the President and Vice President was given the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at the Presidential Villa Abuja's New Banquet Hall.


After the vaccination, both President Muhammadu Buhari and Osinbajo were presented with their E-vaccination cards.


Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health, praised the President earlier in the banquet hall for always helping the health sector in addressing its challenges.


Buhari's decision to take the vaccine public was praised by Osagie, who added that the move would serve to persuade Nigerians of the vaccine's efficacy.

According to report, President Buhari, Osinbajo and other top government officials were scheduled to take the vaccine on Live Television on Saturday. Also, all governors in the 36 States in Nigeria will be vaccinated on Wednesday March 10.


Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this at the second edition of State House weekly briefing.


Meanwhile, as at March 6, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 158,042, with 1,954 deaths, while no fewer than 137,025 patients have been successfully treated and discharged.
