In order to cast concrete on the expansion joints, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, Olukayode Popoola, has declared a 72-hour complete closure of the Third Mainland Bridge.
The shutdown will take effect from midnight on Saturday to midnight on Tuesday, Popoola told NAN on Tuesday.
According to him, the construction work on three additional expansion joints had reached the stage for casting concrete.
Popoola said last week, "The contractor is ready to cast another three expansion joints this weekend on the Island-bound lane where we are working now, but we have a lot of vehicles on the road due to the festive period."
